National Academy of Media & Events is proud to associate with FIFA U-17 World Cup
The FIFA U-17 Football World Cup took the City of Joy on a rampant rage, the last few weeks. It is listed as one of the biggest events to be organised by the city in the year 2017. With special infrastructural arrangements made to the Salt Lake Stadium, the heart of the football matches; additional police forces deployed to take care of the security; a well networked social media to reach out to the audience; the organisers left no stone unturned to make this grand event a success. It is to an event of such grandeur that the students of The National Academy of Media and Events lent their assistance to.
NAME specializes in providing hands-on training to its students for all major events taking place in Kolkata and the FIFA World Cup being one of them, was a training opportunity that could not have been missed by the students. According to NAME Founder-Director, Mr Amaresh Singh, “Under 17 World Cup is happening for the first time in India and Kolkata is the host city. When there is any event in Kolkata, we have never missed it as a participant. It feels great that ur students go to these events and become instrumental in making them successfull. They work and execute the event. We have sent 30 students and they have worked very well. There are different areas of work in an event and they get to work in different departments and assist the organisers. Such learning opportunities are crucial to shape their event management career.”
The students found an occasion to put to practice their skills of event management that they had been learning inside class-rooms. Event management is an industry which requires as much field work as does it requires theoretical training. This is because; if a student does not apply their learning in real life situations they would not be able to master it. Interestingly, not always do events take place as it has been planned. Thus to manage crisis with a composed demeanour and patience, is a great virtue to be imbibed by future event managers. Further, working with a brand like the FIFA World Cup and having it reflected upon their resume’s, would give the students an extra edge in the competitive world during placements.
According to Shubham Agarwal, a student of NAME, “It [working with the FIFA] will create a good impression towards my seniors in the future and adds value to the CV. While working with the FIFA, qualities like adaptability for any situation and patience for the work were explored the most, by me.”Ayush Agarwal focussed on the fact that ‘leadership and team work were the qualities which I experienced the most.” Kartik Sancheti comments that working in the FIFA requires one to be, “adjustable in any condition, display coordination skills, convincing power, punctuality and patience. While working with the FIFA U-17, I got to learn a lot about how to manage sports events held in stadiums.”
The biggest takeaway for the students who participated in this event was the opportunity to execute their event management skills in front of an audience which crossed well over a lakh and in an event which had attracted the eyeballs of the world. NAME Academy strives for excellence in the field of event management and aims at arming each student with holistic skills in this field to manage any kind of events and to overcome adverse situations. Thus, in times to come, NAME hopes to provide more such opportunities for its students to test their skills on-ground.
